The Chase Sailing Club.

Chase SC is based just north of Birmingham and close to the A5 near Burntwood Staffordshire on Chasewater Reservoir. The club has the enviable position of enjoying one of the largest and most easily accessible sailing waters in the South Staffordshire/North Birmingham area being 1.3 miles long by 0.4miles wide.

Our mission at the Chase Sailing Club is to offer an affordable, active sailing club with a relaxed, friendly and welcoming atmosphere for the local communities to enjoy.

The club offers use for several water sports, Dinghy Sailing, Windsurfing, Wingboarding and Paddle Boarding (please note we cannot accommodate Kayaking or Canoeing). As a member, you are free to enjoy your water sports whenever you want, 365 days of the year, with social sailing on Sundays and free access to use the water during the weekdays.

We also provide RYA training courses for those wishing to take up these water activities as a sport or hobby.

Our members have been racing Dinghies on Chasewater since the 1950's with a long and glowing history of national and world champions, particularly in the GP14 class, and more recently boasting no less than four national champions in the Blaze class since 2015.

Today the club embraces all mono hull dinghy classes and has a well-attended menagerie fleet of single and double handers with generally 20 to 25 boats regularly racing.

Formal racing is held on Saturdays, with three races starting from 12.00pm being a mix of pursuits and handicaps. During the summer months club racing is also held on Wednesday evenings along with afternoon "retiree" races.

On Sunday we have "Rookie Racing" which is designed to encourage and invigorate the post RYA trained youngsters and aspiring adults into a more introductory racing environment all year round.

Overall, Chase SC is a very family friendly, supportive and embracing club with as much emphasis on the post-race socialising as the racing itself. Usually once the days racing is over everybody pays a near obligatory visit to the clubs well priced bar to debate the days sailing and further enjoy the banter with fellow club members.

Whether you are new to water sports or a seasoned sailor and are looking for a vibrant and friendly club then we hope you will find it here.
